2019 UPDATE

At Lonely Planet, we believe travel can be a force for good – but we need to do our bit as a company too. We’ve always taken our responsibility seriously; after all, travel can only be as good as the world we explore. We’re aware of our impact on the environment and society, both as a business and as individuals.

The Forest Stewardship Council is the world's most trusted sustainable forest management solution. The FSC™ certification guarantees that the paper used in our books is from responsibly managed forests. As of June 2019, 100% of our printed titles were certified FSC™.

All of the packaging we use to send out orders is 100% recyclable and/or is made from renewable sources. We pad out cartons with either Green Fill, Air Cushions or Randpack paper fill. These materials are selected for their ability to fill voids and cushion product in transit as well as for their sensitivity to the environment. Void fill materials are reviewed ongoing as they evolve constantly, and it is in all our best interests to try and do the right thing.

For more information about our manufacturing practices and materials, visit our Responsibility page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
