Teresa Cannon
After too many years in a suffocating bureaucracy Teresa Cannon was compelled to escape to the rarefied environment of the Himalaya. There she trekked through century-old forests and traversed the peaks and passes of the western moonscape region. She succumbed to the gentle and continuing welcome Namaste, which flowed like a mantra throughout the landscape. She wanted to stay. But visas run out and bank balances diminish. She returned to Australia, but not for long. Her love of travel led her abroad many times. In Asia she gathered material and co-authored a book on Asian elephants, which was published in 1995. A children's version was published by Cambridge University Press in April 1998. She is a contributing author to Lonely Planet's India, Kerala and South India.
